Description:
Tsukioka Yoshitoshi began producing this 100-print series in 1885 and completed this masterpiece just before his death in 1892. Stevenson, an authority on Japanese woodblock prints, details the background and general content of this very popular work. The focus of this book is to present the magnificent images themselves in almost life-size format. Each print occupies a page, and the opposite page contains text explaining the depicted legend or event.
